Kaleb Schumann


Mr. Schumann is currently the Tour Director for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. In his third season with the corps, he served as a Tour Assistant (2016) and Assistant Tour Director (2017) previous to his current position.

At present, Schumann is the Associate Director of Bands at Galena Park High School, located just east of downtown Houston, Texas where he assists with the Band of Gold (marching band), conducts the Symphonic Band, and assists at the feeder middle schools. The marching bands that Mr. Schumann has directed have received exclusively Superior ratings since he began teaching in 2011. Previous to his current position, Mr. Schumann taught at Krum High School, leading their marching band through its first full season. While at Krum, Schumann made his Carnegie Hall debut in the Spring of 2014, premiering Dave Richards’ Adrift, a jazz-funk piece for wind band.

Mr. Schumann is a two time alumnus of the University of North Texas, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (2011) and a Master’s Degree in Conducting (2016), studying with Eugene Migliaro Corporon. During his graduate studies at North Texas, Schumann was a production assistant for the recording of over 150 pieces for wind band, and authored a chapter in the GIA series Teaching Music Through Performance in Middle School Band. Additionally, while earning his undergraduate degree, Mr. Schumann served as the first Lead Field Technician for the Green Brigade Marching Band, rated the Best Damn Band in the Land by BleacherReport.com. Schumann was responsible for visual instruction and provided logistical support for the ensemble.

Before his involvement with the drum corps activity, Schumann was involved in summer camp life. During the summer of 2012, he was the Director of High School Boys at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp, the oldest and largest arts camp in the world. He maintained the camp life of over 600 campers and managed a 40 member staff. Also an Eagle Scout, Mr. Schumann served as the Program Director for the Sid Richardson Scout Ranch for the summer of 2009 & 2010. The camp hosted 700 campers weekly, and maintained a staff of over 50 youth and adults.

Schumann holds membership in the Texas Music Educators Association and Mu Phi Epsilon. Mr. Schumann is thankful to be involved with such the professional, storied, and inspiring organization that is the Phantom Regiment.
